Seedream 5 Pro Layers API for Editable Image Layers

Send exactly one image to POST /api/v1/images/generations with model: seedream-5-pro-layers. ByteDance's model returns a base image plus up to 16 independently editable layers, each a transparent PNG with a z_index and a bounding box, so you can rebuild or rearrange the artwork.

From One Flat Image to a Layer Stack

Automatic or guided split

Leave prompt out and the model finds and splits the main elements on its own. Provide it (1 to 2000 characters) to name what to split, in plain language or with <bbox> coordinates.

Coordinates for every layer

Each item carries z_index (0 is the base, layers ascend from 1), bounding_box.absolute as [left, top, right, bottom] in base-image pixels, bounding_box.normalized on a 0-1000 scale, plus a name and description.

Transparent layers, your choice of base format

Every layer is always a transparent PNG. output_format (jpeg by default, or png) applies only to the base image. image_size is auto, 1K, 1.5K or 2K.

Seedream 5 Pro Layers Request Fields and Limits

model

Always <code>seedream-5-pro-layers</code>.

image_list (required)

Exactly one image to split, as <code>[{"url": "https://…"}]</code>.

prompt

Optional, 1 to 2000 characters. Names the elements to split in plain language or with <code>&lt;bbox&gt;</code> coordinates; omit it for an automatic split.

image_size

<code>auto</code> (default, follows the input image's size), <code>1K</code>, <code>1.5K</code> or <code>2K</code>. Only tier names are accepted; pixel values such as 2048x2048 are rejected.

output_format

<code>jpeg</code> (default) or <code>png</code>, for the base image only. Layers are always transparent PNG.

Result

The base image plus up to 16 layers, each with <code>z_index</code>, <code>bounding_box.absolute</code>, <code>bounding_box.normalized</code>, <code>name</code> and <code>description</code>.
Charged per request, not per layer returned.

Seedream 5 Pro Layers API Pricing

1K, 1.5K or auto: 14.66 tokens ($0.2932) per request

Covers the base image and all layers the model returns.

2K: 15.53 tokens ($0.3106) per request

The higher tier for larger artwork.

Billed as base + 16 layers

The model decides how many layers to produce, so every request is billed as one base image plus 16 layers regardless of how many come back.

Layers at half the image rate

Layers are billed at half the rate of a normal image, so one split costs far less than 17 separate generations. Failed jobs are refunded automatically.
